| | Almost synonymous with East Gippsland, the Tambo is a wonderful river. Cruising along this gently flowing river is about as peaceful as it gets.
There are two towns on the river: Johnsonville (jetty, general store) and Swan Reach (jetty, general store, service station and hotel). Swan Reach is the cruising limit for yachts, but cruisers can pass under the Princes Highway bridge and proceed to The Cliffs: tall sandstone cliffs on a bend in the river, deep still waters and good fishing.
You can moor onto the banks of the river, but as much of the bank has been protected by rocks, you need to select your spot carefully so the boat is not damaged. | | |
